Dan Fishbach is an American theater director and producer. He was the Executive Director of The Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, CA from 2006-2008. During Fishbach's tenure at The Groundlings, the improv company inked a New Media deal with Sony for short digital sketches. Additionally, Fishbach is credited with instituting a variety of money-making programs designed to put the venerable theater company back on track after a period of losing money, including detecting, investigating and assisting with the prosecution of a former employee who had embezzled money from the organization. Formerly head of Performing Arts at Los Angeles's prestigious Harvard-Westlake School. Degree from Kenyon College in Ohio and attended the National Theater Institute in Connecticut. Fishbach, who has several regional theatrical directing credits recently directed One Night Stand: An Improvised Musical, produced by Marc E. Platt, Executive Producer of Wicked (musical). The show premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2007, and performed again in 2008. The show is currently in development. Fishbach has directed regionally and locally in Los Angeles. His credits include Steven Dietz's Private Eyes, Nicky Silver's The Maiden's Prayer, Spring Awakening, Company, Chicago,Bat Boy: The Musical, South Pacific, The Glass Menagerie, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Little Shop of Horrors and several others. For his production of HAIR at USC, Fishbach collaborated with original author James Rado by using new pages written by Rado. Fishbach is on the faculty at The University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts and has taught courses at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy among other places. He is a noted historian of the History of the American Musical Theatre, a subject on which he lectures regularly. Fishbach is rumored to be working on a book on the subject. Fishbach's brother, Stephen, was a contestant and runner-up in the CBS reality show ''Survivor: Tocantins''. Fishbach, who is co-president of Page One Productions co–produced Tim Crouch's play ''An Oak Tree'' (http://www.anoaktreela.com) at The Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles which featured actors Jason Alexander, Alan Cumming, Alanis Morissette, Peter Gallagher and Wendie Malick among several others. In 2015, Fishbach will direct Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's musical Assassins (musical) in Los Angeles. == References ==
